Vintage - Lego Robotics

Welcome to the Vintage Lego Robotics Blog!!!

I am hoping this Blog allows us all to share and learn about building robots and programming them.

Here is some information about our little league. We still need to finalize a few details. As I receive information, I shall post it here for your viewing pleasure.

Rescheduled Competition - Friday, March 12

Hello Lego Roboteers,

If you haven't heard the Lego Competition has been rescheduled to Friday, March 12.  A perfect opportunity to drill the kids on drafting and writing programs on there own.

I like to give kids a diagram:

Or a written instructions:

1) go straight for 48 inches
2) turn right 135 degrees
3) go straight for 62 inches
4) turn left 135 degrees
5) go straight 50 inches
6) turn left 135 degrees
7) go straight 65 inches

I would do a written instruction task first.  With it, I would go thru it with them the first time.  Asking what does going forward entail with programming the robot? (ei 1) go straight for 48 inches).

I would be looking for :
the green light to start the program.
then ABC Stop
then motors to with arrows to make it go forward.
then a timer to tell the robot how far it should travel for.
then ABC Stop.

I would have all the necessary icons displayed so they can start associating and visualizing.
Once they make the connections and have a process figured out from start to finish, they will be able to program on their own.
